The Department of History, Cluny Women’s College, organised a presentation on 14 August 2026 at Declan Hall to commemorate the Partition of Bengal in 1947 and reflect on its tragic consequences.

The Department of History, Cluny Women’s College, organised a presentation on 14 August 2026 at Declan Hall to commemorate the Partition of Bengal in 1947 and reflect on its tragic consequences.

The programme began at 9:15 a.m. with the National Song, followed by the Welcome Address by Mr. Dipesh Roy, HOD, Department of History, who highlighted the historical background and human cost of Partition.

Students of the Department of History presented on the Partition, covering communal violence, displacement, refugee experiences, camps, rehabilitation and its wider social and political consequences. A short documentary on the Partition of Bengal was also screened.

The programme was attended by Principal Dr. Sr. Pushpa Michael, faculty members, History students and V Semester students, and concluded with a Vote of Thanks.

The observance was a meaningful opportunity to remember those affected by Partition and reflect on its enduring significance in the history of West Bengal and India.
